THANKSGIVING
"And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God"  Deuteronomy 28:2

What is God's will for your life?  He tells us in His word "in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:18)  God's will, God's desire, God's power is found in our obedience and gratitude right now, today.  God's command, given to the Children of Israel through His servant Moses, was and is to obey His voice, and with that obedience will come the manifold blessings of God.  Have God's blessings overtaken you recently?  What exactly are the blessings of God?  Moses say's here "blessed shall you be in the city, blessed shall you be in the country.  Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks (since not many of us are ranchers this means God will bless our career and multiply our income:-).  Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.  Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways."  My friends, the blessings in this chapter go on and on and on!
Now why would anyone not receive these blessings?  Why would anyone turn away from a loving God who promises abundant life?  When times were good and life was pleasant for the children of Israel, they were very quick to become spiritually soft.  They were prone to excess in any and all areas of pleasure.  Spiritual complacency leads to temptation by evil, which leads to a taste of "forbidden fruit," which then takes us down a road of deception and can end up in full blown rebellion to a good God.  If this sounds familiar to you, we are going to see how to avoid this spiritual downward spiral.  The Bible contains the answers to all of life; B-I-B-L-E; Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth!   The solution for Spiritual Myopia is Jesus, the only eye doctor in the history of the world who can give sight to the spiritually blind.  Our spiritual shortsightedness is caused by selfishness; plain and simple.  Our desire to be the Master of our own destiny, along with our adversary, the devil, whispering in our ear that we are and always will be all we need in this life, convince us this is true.  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches!  The solution to selfishness is obedience to the voice of Jesus and gratitude, thanking Him for where you are at right now, today.   A thankful heart is a happy heart, and an ear that hears the voice of God is a blessed ear!  I truly hope that you can celebrate the blessing of the presence of God in your home and in your heart this thanksgiving!!
Prayer for today:  Lord Jesus give me ears to hear and a heart to receive and obey Your voice today.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
