Do you hear what I hear?
"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches"  The Revelation of Jesus Christ

Do you hear what I hear?  Sounds like......oh yeah, a Christmas carol!  One of many that gives the gospel, that speaks of the life and ministry of Jesus.  Do you hear?  Are you listening to the Holy Spirit?  He is calling out to you and I continually.  Do you know what He is saying to you?  Lets look at the letters to the churches in the Revelation, the "unveiling" or "revealing" of the end times. There are seven letters, each with praise and each with warning.  The letters have a threefold interpretation; Chronological (as it related to the 1st Century), Contemporary (as it relates to us), and Composite (relating to then and now).  Listen (if you have an ear), to what Jesus says to us through John the revelator.  To the first church; repent and return to your first love (that would be Jesus), and whoever overcomes will eat from the tree of life. To the second church; you will be thrown into prison, be tested and have tribulation. Whoever overcomes will receive the crown of life.  To the third church; repent of idol worship and sexual immorality, whoever overcomes will eat of the hidden manna and receive a new name, one that only God knows (He knows His own). To the fourth church; repent of sexual immorality and false teachers, God searches the minds and hearts and whoever overcomes and keeps His works to the end will receive power over the nations and the morning star. To the fifth church; Be watchful, hold fast and repent. Whoever overcomes will receive white (pure and undefiled) garments, and will be written in the Book of Life.  To the sixth church; "Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have (the gospel), that no one may take your crown."  Whoever overcomes, He will make a pillar in the temple of God, and will have written on them His new name. To the seventh church; "Because you are neither hot nor cold I will vomit you out of My mouth."  Be zealous and repent. Whoever overcomes will sit with Him on His throne.
Wow!  Are you listening?  Can you hear His voice speaking to your heart?
There are several key words in these letters.  The first; Repent.  To repent is to turn from dead works, religion, and a rebellious lifestyle, to a relationship with Jesus, the Messiah, the one who gave His life to redeem (buy back) your life.  The second; Overcomes. Do you want to be an overcomer? I do. The bible says in Ephesians chapter 1 that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is available to you and I right now, today!  Power to overcome sin and temptation, fear, anxiety, worry, depression, and anything else that is consuming us right now. The third key word; Reward.  I am not serving my Lord Jesus because of the reward He has promised, but the fact remains that the rewards are there!  This is an amazing truth;  I receive love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control in this life, and then when this body dies my spirit goes to be with my Jesus for eternity!
What a deal!  And so I ask again, do you hear what I hear?  Oh beloved I hope you hear His voice calling to your heart today!
Prayer for the day:  God give me ears to hear your voice today and each day thereafter.  I love you Lord. Amen
