Pray Without Ceasing
1 Thessalonians 5:18

A certain person couldn't find the right posture for prayer.  He tried praying on his knees, but that wasn't comfortable; besides, it wrinkled his slacks.  He tried praying standing, but soon his legs got tired.  He tried praying seated, but that didn't seem reverent.  Then one day as he was walking through a field, he fell headfirst into an open well.  Did he ever pray!  We will likely find ourselves in some kind of "well" during this life.  Well, I cant pray now, I'm too busy, or my favorite TV show is on.  Well, I would like a close relationship with God, but I just can't seem to find the time.  The Bible tells us to pray continually, to have an open line of communication with God at all times.  Prayer is a privilege, one that came the moment Jesus died on the cross.  The veil of the Temple was torn in two, from the top to the bottom, and we now have free and full access to the throne room of the Almighty, the Holy of Holies, through faith in the finished work of Jesus.  There is power in prayer.  The power comes from God, and our petitions made to Him through the Son, bring His blessing, His direction, and His peace.  A little prayer, a little power.  More prayer, more power. Continual prayer, continual power!  Why would anyone not plug into this supernatural power source?
There is, however, one spiritual truth I need to mention.  The Apostle Peter says," Be watchful, be sober, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."  When you bow the knee before our Holy God, the devil is immediately going to put all kinds of doubt, worry, frustration, anxiety, fear, and busyness in your mind.  It has been said that busyness is not of the devil, it is the devil.  Prayer is the most profitable but difficult of the Christian disciplines.  When a man or woman persists in prayer, a breakthrough comes and the power of God kicks in, propelling you into the throne room to have a full and rich prayer time.  The beautiful truth of prayer is that it can be practiced anywhere, and at anytime.  Listen to this powerful reminder of truth, "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him."  2 Chronicles 16:9.
Oh beloved, is your heart loyal to the Lord?  Pray to him in a time when he may be found.  He is waiting to hear from you.  Will you come and have communion with Him today?

Prayer for the day:  Teach me to pray, O Lord, and remind me of the power, the peace and the blessing that come through my prayer life. I love You, Lord. Amen
