Heaven's Gift
"Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us."   Matthew 1:23

God with us--can you imagine!  Jesus, the perfect son of God, the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, left His heavenly dwelling place to come to our world, to become like us, to take on flesh and live like we live.  He came into our world of pain, leaving His world of perfection.  He came into our world of suffering, leaving His world of contentment.  He came into our world of spiritual poverty, teaching us how to find the true riches, the treasures of heaven.  Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and yet he came as a baby, and in the lowliest of settings, "God with us" wrapped in abject poverty.  Have you ever thought about why He would do that?  Why He would leave heaven and come into our world?  If I could ask God one question, it would be "why me?"  Why would the Creator of heaven and earth come and give His life for me?  The answer to that question is found in the Word of God.  Romans 5:8 says, "but God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  It is His love for a wretch like me that motivated Him to come into our world!
Friends, the Bible teaches that we are all spiritually bankrupt outside of faith in the Christ, the Anointed One, the Messiah.  If Jesus had not come into our world to show us "the Way" to get to heaven, we would still be groping around in darkness, seeking Him through religion and good works.  We would have no assurance of Salvation, no filling of the Holy Spirit, and none of the benefits and blessings of a relationship with God.  Jesus came into our world to show us what love looks like.  He was (and is) love incarnate.  If you want to see what love looks like through the eyes of God, read 1 Corinthians 13:1-8.  As you are reading this passage the second time, substitute the name of Jesus for the word love.  Interesting, isn't it?   God is love, love never fails. Jesus is God, God never ends.
Beloved, if you know Jesus, you know the greatest love ever revealed.  If you have relationship with Him, you will be with Him for eternity.  He has given us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee.   Trust Him today!
Prayer for today:  Come into my heart Lord Jesus, there is room in my heart for You. Fill me with Your Spirit and cleanse me through and through.  In Jesus name I pray,  Amen
