The Lord Your God is With You
"Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, neither let your heart be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."    Joshua 1:9

We are fast approaching the close of another year, and I trust and pray that it has been a good one.  If not, we have the hope of a new start, a new beginning, a brand new year to look forward to.  There is something about the changing of the calendar that automatically brings the excitement of some new thing, a dream realized, a hope reinforced, the answer to a seemingly endless prayer petition.  Joshua, through the Holy Spirit, reminds the children of Israel of God's command (not suggestion) to believe in His promise that wherever they would journey, wherever they set their feet, wherever they lived, worked and spent their lives,  He was there.  That guarantee was given to the people of promise, those who believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and those who receive Him by faith.  Folks, if you are in Christ today, that is you!  Our God is Mighty, and He commands us to walk in His strength and His courage, not letting the circumstances of life bring us down, not telling God how big our problems are, but telling our problems how big our God is!  We walk by faith and not by sight, and though we do not know what the future holds, we know the One that holds the future.  Beloved, we have no reason to fear tomorrow because God is already there!!
The Bible teaches that God is all places at all times (omnipresent).  He is the same yesterday, today and forever.  He tells us that His love is eternal, and that He will never leave us or forsake us.  I don't know what your facing right now, and I don't know what the desire of your heart is, but God does.  Do not be afraid, do not be dismayed, God is near!  Friends might abandon you, parents might not be what you expect, employers might let you go, and children might go astray, but God is faithful and trustworthy.  When mother Theresa was laughed at because she wanted to build a great orphanage and had but three shillings to begin with, she answered: "With three shillings Theresa can do nothing; but with God and three shillings there is nothing that Theresa cannot do."  Whatever you have, no matter if it's little or much, give it to God, ask him to bless it, and stand still and watch God work!   If you have had a good year, ask God to multiply even more the coming year, and if you have had a hard year, remember that God can restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten. (Joel 2:25)
Prayer for today:  Remind me each day O Lord of Your faithfulness, and fill me with faith to overcome adversity at all times, In Jesus name, Amen
