Rock Of Ages
"The Lord lives!  Blessed be my Rock!  Let God be exalted, The Rock of my salvation!"  2 Samuel 22:47

Praise God for Jesus!  Praise God for salvation!  Praise God for His marvellous works!  Praise the Lord along with King David this morning!
In 2 Samuel Chapter 22,  David is rejoicing in God His savior, after he was delivered from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul, the 1st King of Israel who was trying to take David's life because God had taken the Kingdom away from him due to his disobedience.  God was faithful in King David's life, and God is faithful in our lives today!  Remember the power of God shone through David's life in his battle with the giant Goliath?  It was the Rock of Ages (a smooth stone in this case) that defeated Goliath, the enemy of God's people Israel.  If you recall, David took five smooth stones into battle with Goliath, though he only needed one.  Do you know why he took five?  There were four more giants to take down!   Is our God amazing or what!!  Our Rock of Ages has always shown Himself strong through those who are set apart for His purposes, and He always will!  Beloved, listen to what David writes, "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;  The God of my strength, in whom I will trust;  My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge;  My savior, You save me from violence.  I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;  So shall I be saved from my enemies." (Vss 2-4)
Are you standing on the rock today?  Why would you not?  There is victory promised in Christ Jesus.  There is strength promised in Christ Jesus.  There is joy promised in Christ Jesus.  There is love promised in Christ Jesus.  There is peace promised in Christ Jesus.  There is abundant life promised in Christ Jesus, and there is eternal life promised with Christ Jesus.  The promises of God are solid and they are sure.
Psalm 127: 1 says, "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it;  Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain."  Jesus tells a parable of the wise man who built his house on the rock, and when the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.  Is your life, your "house,"  built on the Rock of Ages?  He loves you so much that He gave His life so you could be brought into a right relationship with Him, have your sin cleansed and forgiven, and inherit life everlasting in the presence of Almighty God.  Friends I implore you,  confess your sin to Jesus, repent of your sin, and place your faith in Christ Jesus so that you, like King David and the Prophet Isaiah, can say, "For the Lord God will help me; therefore I will not be disgraced;  Therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed."  (Isaiah 50;7)
Prayer for today:  Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord to You, let the substance of my life be praise, service, and dedication to the Most High God.  Amen.
