Devotional_Thoughts

Good day and God bless you this morning! I trust and pray that your week is off to a good start. I have a correction to make on the last message sent out. The men who came to help Gideon who were fearful and afraid were sent home, unfit for battle. The wording of that sentence was wrong, my apologies! The point is that when we stand in the strength of the Lord, we stand strong. I hope you are standing strong in the power of His might this morning.

Our text this day is Judges 7: 8-25. Here we see the 300 men fit for battle are immediately sent out against the enemy. We, as God's army, are called to be ready in season and out of season. The bible records that on the same night the Lord tells Gideon, "Arise, go down against the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand. But if you are afraid to go down, go down to the camp with Purah your servant, and you shall hear what they say; and afterward your hands shall be strengthened to go down against the camp". Could it be that Gideon was still not convinced of Gods power and promise?

When we remember that the Lord looks upon the heart, we can see that even this mighty man of valor was doubting, either himself or God, or both. Oh that we as people of God could walk without doubt and fear, fully submitted, surrendered, and confident that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6b). When Gideon and Purah go into the enemies camp they hear one man talking about a loaf of barley bread tumbling into their camp and collapsing tents. The other man says, "this is nothing else but the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel".

You see, God shows Gideon and Purah, beyond a shadow of doubt, that He has gone before them and prepared the way! God is so graceful and merciful to us, so understanding of our weakness. As the story goes on the men with Gideon are each given a trumpet, a pitcher, and a torch. God delivered the Israelites from an unimaginable foe using 300 men with pitchers and torches! They never had to use their weapons! They were prepared, they were ready for battle, but the victory came from the Lord!! The Spirit of God fell on the enemy and they turned in on themselves. Is God amazing or what?

Friends, this is what the Lord can do for you and I. He is just waiting for us to stand up and say, "Here I am Lord, send Me". Are you willing to take a stand for the Lord today? We are living in a world that is pushing God out of everything and then saying, "if God is good, why is there so much bad?". Duh!? What does God see when He looks on your heart today? Does He see a mighty man/woman of valor or does He see a frightened, wounded spirit. Beloved He knows and He cares. His love for you is so great that He gave His life for you! He died so that you and I could live a life of abundance, a life free from fear and worry. Will you surrender your life and your will to Him today? I will agree with Joshua, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" (Joshua 24:15b)

God be with you today and always....
