Devotional_Thoughts

Today is Maundy Thursday in this most Holy week, and I hope this day finds you well and blessed.

Maundy Thursday is the day the church recognizes Jesus washing of the feet of the disciples and the last supper. For Christians this is a solemn remembrance of the servant leadership of our Lord and Savior. Jesus said that as He served His disciples we should also serve one another.

A servants heart in the context of Jesus' exhortation is a heart that recognizes the need of our fellow man, a heart that is willing to do whatever necessary to minister to the whole person, heart, mind, soul and body. Sound familiar? It should, because that is what you and I do at The Salvation Army every day!

My prayer is that we will never forget how vital this ministry is to our world and our community. God bless you for your service to humanity, done in the name of our blessed Savior! The significance of the last supper can not be overstated. Jesus had His last meal with the twelve disciples who scattered when things got tough. Oh, how frail we are in times of persecution, God grant us the strength to accomplish your will and purpose for our lives, even when it hurts.

When I reflect on the last supper, I can't help but think of the words of Christ in Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." Can you believe that the Lord of all creation would want to dine with us and live in us?! This is the promise and the power of the gospel! Just as He sat with the twelve, one of whom would betray Him, so He desires to sit and talk with us, to teach us His words and His ways. Oh, that we could grasp the fullness of His love for us!

Tomorrow is Good Friday, the day that Jesus laid down His life for you and I, so that we could receive the forgiveness of sin and enter into eternity with Him! Oh how I pray that you have a relationship with the blessed Redeemer, and if not, please ask someone who does, a co-worker, friend, Pastor or Minister of God's grace, and they can show you the Way to the throne of grace and eternal life. I hope you know that eternal life starts at the day of Regeneration, the day you commit your life to Jesus the Messiah. Jesus said, "greater love has no man than this, that He lay down His life for a friend."

We have been granted the extreme privilege and right to be called children of God, and friends of God, because we have believed in His name. I truly hope you have a blessed weekend and above all that you take time to sit with your Creator and let Him impart to you the Words of life, of joy and of peace, the peace that surpasses all understanding. HE'S ALIVE!! Hallelujah!!
