Devotional_Thoughts

Good day and God bless you all! I trust and pray that your week is starting off well. This is Holy week, the most sacred time of remembrance of the cross of Calvary, the finished work of Jesus on behalf of all mankind. I hope you know Him and the power of His resurrection today!

I would like to spend our time today looking at Jesus washing the feet of His disciples. Foot washing at this time was necessary because the feet would get very dusty and dirty in the course of the day. Foot washing was a job reserved for the servants, and a rare act of great love when done one to another. The act of the Son of God in washing the disciples feet challenged them in their understanding. Jesus was proving the great love that He had for them by humbling Himself and taking the form of a servant.

The Word of God records that shortly before this time the disciples were arguing about who was the greatest amongst them. Jesus shocks them by stooping to serve them, and showing them that they are to serve one another as He was serving them. He set a precedent, one of servant leadership, one that we would be wise to follow. His washing their feet also showed that He was the one who cleansed them. Jesus' blood cleanses us from all our sin, and we can shout to the world, "What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus"! Glory to God!! Peter's response to Jesus washing his feet ?!, "You shall never wash my feet!." To which Jesus responded, "If I do not wash you, you have no part with me."

Strong words from the Savior! Friend, do you have any part with Him this day? He came and lived a sin free life, was beaten, spat upon, mocked, ridiculed, crucified and died for your sake. He did this because He loves you, and He desires that you spend eternity with Him! The reason this week is most Holy is this; He's Alive! He's Alive, He's Alive and I'm forgiven, heavens gates are open wide, He's Alive! There is an old hymn, "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives!" I pray that you will let Him in to your life today, to cleanse you of your sin and show you unconditional love, love without fail, love without end. May He wash you and cleanse you and make you whole today!

God bless you, and happy Holy week!
