Devotional_Thoughts

Good day to all and God bless you!    As I am writing, I am hearing a rumbling in the sky.  Summer is coming!  The heat and humidity are on the way, we had better enjoy the beautiful weather while it is here.  Isn't it great to have a heart of gratitude even when things are not the way we want them to be?!  I hope you are there today, in your heart and mind.  In our Gideon study we saw that he had given everything to the Lord, a wise choice and blessed offering.  I hope and pray that you have committed your whole heart, soul, mind and strength to Him, the One who gave everything for you.  We see today the Lord's response to Gideon's offering, in verse 21 of Chapter 6 it says "Then the Angel of the Lord put out the end of the staff that was in His hand and touched the meat and the unleavened bread; the fire rose out of the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. And the Angel of the Lord departed out of his sight".  There is so much symbolism here.   The meat we saw last time represents all that Gideon had to offer, body soul, spirit.   The unleavened bread represents a sin free offering.  In the Word of God, leaven represents sin, and the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 5;6 that "a little leaven leavens the whole lump".  Just as a speck of yeast (leaven) spreads throughout a lump of bread dough, so too sin travels like lightning amongst a people group (church, nation, synagogue, etc.).  Gideon is instructed to put his offering on the rock.  Jesus is the Rock of our salvation, and He said the wise man builds his house (life) on the rock.  When the offering of Gideon is placed on the rock, the Lord reaches out his staff and touches it.  Sound familiar?   Psalm 23;4b says "Your rod and your staff, they comfort me".  The shepherds staff had many uses, here it is used prophetically to show the Lord's intention to consume Gideon's offering (life).  Do you know that God wants to consume you too?   Hebrews 12;19 says "For our God is a consuming fire".   We will all be consumed by Him or with Him, it is our choice.  As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!     I, like Gideon, want my life to be built on the Rock of Christ's love.  I have offered Him everything, and, true to His word, He has consumed me.  He wants to consume you too.  Will you let Him in today?   If you have already, I know that you know the joy, the peace, the strength and the stability that come with a life built on the Rock.   May the Word of  Christ dwell in you richly today, and may you be found as a mighty warrior for the Lord, fighting the good fight of faith!                Blessings...
