(FORT MYERS, FLORIDA) — Pointing the way every year is a group of residents from Bay Pointe at Bonita Bay who without fail, deliver turkeys by the truckloads to The Salvation Army for their holiday meals.
Leading this valiant effort are Jim and Alice Patterson, residents of Bay Pointe. Throughout the year, Jim, Alice and other residents raise funds to buy turkeys for The Army and other service agencies in Southwest Florida.
“Grateful and blessed are just two of the words to describe this wonderful gesture from the Bay Pointe Residents,” stated Major Art Penhale, Corp Officer.
“Jim and Alice are true gifts to The Salvation Army and we appreciate the fruits of their labor – 850 turkeys to needy families in our community.”
The turkeys from Bay Pointe will help provide the essential ingredient for the over 600 meals that will be prepared at the Edison Avenue campus for Thanksgiving dinner. The remaining turkeys will go in the Christmas Cheer Food Baskets for families in need who have applied for Christmas assistance.
Sweet Bay Supermarkets worked with Jim and Alice to secure the turkeys that were needed for The Salvation Army and the other service agencies. “It was a pleasure working with Sweet Bay management.
They went above and beyond to make sure we got a good price on the turkeys and delivered on time. We could not have done it without their help,” stated Jim Patterson.
Other items that are needed to help feed the hundreds that will gather for this year’s holiday meal are:
Celery
Onions
Instant Mashed Potatoes
Pre-Bakes Pies
Large Cranberry Sauce
Cookies
Large Green Beans
Fresh Fruit
Instant Gravies
12 oz. Canned Drinks
