Is there a Salvation Army center in my community?

Yes, the center is the church, as well as a community center. It is located at 10291 McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers (south of Colonial Avenue).

What types of services are provided at these centers?

In addition to Sunday morning worship services, weekly Bible studies, outreach to people in hospitals and other traditional church activities, The Salvation Army Corps offers special services for the needy and for seniors. Terrific Tuesday, a program for young people, plus Wednesday dinners, followed by Bible study, are just some of the activities held at the center. In addition, a variety of outside groups meet regularly at our center.

Does The Salvation Army in Lee County have a shelter?

Yes. A 215-bed shelter, The Red Shield Lodge, helps many people experiencing homelessness to get back on track and to begin living productive lives again. Every evening, we offer anutritious meal at Sally's Cafe to anyone who is hungry.

Does everybody who works for the Army wear a uniform?

No, only Salvation Army officers and members of The Salvation Army Corps (called soldiers) wear uniforms. Many employees in our social services programs are not members of the church and serve residents in our outreach programs.

Is The Salvation Army a church or a non-profit organization?

Both. The Army is a non-profit religious organization based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. A Protestant denomination, The Salvation Army is a provider of social services to needy people.

If I donate to your organization will you share my information with other groups or     organizations?

No. The Salvation Army highly respects the privacy of our donors. For this reason we do not rent, sell, or exchange our donor mailing list.
